Policy on Day Student Enrollment in MU In The Evening Courses
Enrollment in MU In The Evening courses is intended for students in the evening general studies major. However, if space is available after the Evening student enrollment period ends, some courses may be available for day student enrollment on a limited basis.

The following academic departments will NOT accept day students into MU In The Evening sections of courses:

  • Biology
  • Communications
  • Math

Day student enrollment is restricted by the following departments as noted:

  • Business: No day student enrollment. Business majors wanting overrides can contact Jim Sharrock in the College of Business.
  • History: Day student enrollment accepted on a space-available basis during the week prior to the course start date. History majors require permission from the department chair before enrolling.

Following are instructions for day students who would like to submit an enrollment form for MU In The Evening courses that will allow day-student enrollment:

  1. Look at the course offerings to locate the course you are interested in to see if it allows day student enrollment on a space-available basis. If the course does NOT allow day student enrollment, you will see the following statement: "Not available for day student enrollment." We cannot accept enrollment forms from any students except evening program students for courses with this statement.
  2. If you do not see the statement "Not available for day student enrollment" on the course description, then it is available for day student enrollment on a space-available basis after Regular Registration ends. You may submit a Non-degree-seeking Direct Access Enrollment Form.
  3. Once the form has been submitted, we will keep it on file in our office until the week prior to the course start date. We will accept up to 10 enrollment forms per class for a waiting list. We begin processing the Direct Access applications during the week prior to each session. Enrollments will be processed on a space-available basis in the order we receive them. You will be notified of your enrollment status after the forms have been processed.
  4. Please note: submitting an application is not a guarantee of enrollment. If you require a certain number of credits for financial aid or other reasons, please investigate other registration options to ensure that you will be enrolled in the correct number of hours.
