MILC
The Milk Income Loss Contract (MILC) program has been the lifeline for many small dairy producers and families across the country. National Farmers Union successfully lobbied Congress to get a one-month extension of the MILC program added to the FY2007 Supplemental Appropriations Bill that also provided emergency disaster assistance to rural America.
Despite current rising rates in dairy products, and other food products, MILC is still a vital program that assists dairy producers when prices are low. The one month extension of the program, which was set to expire in August, allows MILC to be included and funded in the 2007 Farm Bill.
