What's new in October 2008

  • Participant statements for the calendar quarter ending 9/30/08 are now on the web and, for those participants who requested mailed statements, in the mail.

  • Participants can now opt out of receiving mailed annual TSP participant statements. However, participants who get their statements from the web only will still receive an annual letter from the Executive Director of the TSP and a copy of the January TSP Highlights newsletter in the mail.

  • The TSP is celebrating National Save for Retirement Week October 19-25. We are proud to help you save for a more comfortable retirement.

  • The IRS has announced new contribution limits for 2009. You will be able to contribute up to $16,500 in regular tax-deferred contributions. If you are age 50 or older, or turning age 50, in 2009, you can also contribute up to an additional $5,500 in catch-up contributions. If you have both a civilian and a uniformed services account, the total amount you can contribute to both accounts will be $49.000.
