Get Involved

The Aldo Leopold Centennial Celebration is a grassroots effort.  It exists because of the dedication of interested individuals and groups who have committed to coordinating events.  We invite you to join us in celebrating Leopold and his legacy here in the Southwest.

Ways you can get involved:

Participate in an upcoming event

Volunteer to help at an existing event

Plan a new event. Do you want to get people involved in celebrating Aldo Leopold in your community?  Here are some ideas for events that you could organize:

  • Service project
  • Community readings from A Sand County Almanac
  • Hikes or nature walks
  • Dutch oven cooking workshops
  • Active sporting events: fishing, shooting, archery tournaments
  • Nature journal making
  • Teacher workshops through the Leopold Education Project
  • Field trips / tours of "Leopold landscapes"
  • Student involvement: essay/art contests, dramatic enactments with readings
  • Silent auctions
  • Community forums
  • Presentations on Leopold
  • Bird watching

Contact the Aldo Leopold Centennial Celebration Coordinator, Dara Johnson, for more information on getting involved at 505.898.6388 or djohn_at_bosqueschool_dot_org.
