Universities - How to Recognize Phishing Scam E-mails
SSN Remediation and the Alumni system (ADVANCE) The first phase of the Social Security Number Remediation Project is scheduled
for go-live on Monday, August 13th. This means that SSNs will be removed from
the Alumni system (ADVANCE) and from the SSO system. All occurrences of SSNs
within these systems will be replaced with an alternate ID, which is a randomly
assigned nine digit number with no intrinsic value. The true SSNs will be stored
in an electronic vault managed by the University's Division of Information
Technology in Columbia.
We do not expect any disruption in the services provided by ADVANCE and the SSO
system as a result of the go-live; however if local issues arise please call the
