Food Stores

8:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Purdue University Food Stores purchases, warehouses, and/or coordinates campus delivery of food and related paper items. Annual purchases for these items can top the $10 million mark! Services are provided to the food service operations within the Division of Housing and Food Services, Hotel Tourism Management, as well as for academic departments requiring products for teaching and research.

Food Stores also works with vending contracts to enable vending machines on campus for student and staff convenience. Franchises, licenses and food service equipment are also contracted through Food Stores making it the one stop shop for campus food service needs.

The Food Stores facility is located on the south side of campus. The facility was originally built in 1957 and was expanded in 1992.

Mission

The mission of the Food Stores Operation is to provide the division of Housing and Food Services and the academic campus with a procurement center for all items and services pertaining to food, food equipment and campus vending.

Objectives

  • Provide purchasing, contract administration, warehousing distribution services, and other value adding activities as opportunities and needs warrant.
  • Foster initiative to find new products, services and innovative processes to further the hospitality experience of students, staff, and campus visitors.
  • Collaborate and maintain synergy with all customers of our services so as to enhance the ultimate outcome desired by those customers.
  • Administer campus vending to provide the Purdue community with innovative and quality vending services.
  • Offer engagement initiatives supporting the Academic programs for interns and providing classroom experiences on site.

The vision of the Food Stores Operation is to be the primary cornerstone of service and support for the Housing and Food Services division as well as providing relevant goods and services campus wide.
