Student Employment

Employers have told us that they want to hire graduates who have proven work experience. Housing and Food Services can help you gain valuable skills for the future, so you’re prepared.

 

There are nearly 1,500 student jobs available in Housing and Food Services. Below, we have listed the departments and many of the job opportunities. Although you may start your employment with HFS in an entry-level position, there are higher-level opportunities available throughout the division.

Start by looking over all of the options. In most cases, we can work around your schedule, and you can decide how many hours you want to work based on your other commitments. Then visit the locations where you’re interested in working and inquire about availability. Finally, submit your application!

Positions by Department

Positions that are green and bold-faced are entry-level positions and are the most likely to be available. Other positions are available to existing employees and require a higher level of experience. At any time, you may check at the specific locations for availability.

      Service
      Student employees perform security rounds, maintain cleanliness of the facility, and greet customers and answer questions as required. Position requires walking, lifting, standing, and reaching.

      Food Stores
      Student employees assist in filling meat orders; operate grinders, slicers, etc.; and receive and put food away in designated locations, including refrigeration and freezers. Also responsible for delivering daily orders to on-campus locations.
