The restaurant sits next to the College Park Airport runway. This is the oldest airport in continuous operation in the US. Orrville and Wilbur Wright actually taught flying lessons here.

Who:The presentation for the banquet this year is being done by Dr. John Hartung, USDA-ARS. Dr. Hartung has been a scientist at USDA in Beltsville MD for over 20 years. He specializes in exotic diseases of citrus, including diseases that affect citrus production in countries other than the United States. Other interests include development of rapid and sensitive DNA-based diagnostic methods to assist in plant quarantine and phytosanitary applications, specifically Citrus Tristeza Virus, Citrus Variegated Chlorosis, citrus canker, Huanglungbin (citrus greening), Citrus Yellow Mosaic Virus, Citrus Chlorotic Dwarf Virus, and Angular Leaf Spot of strawberry.
What:Dr. Hartung's talk will be on "The Yellow Dragon: Will We Have Orange Juice in 2020?"; If you think gas is expensive... have you looked at the price of orange juice lately? It's not only freezes that are wiping out citrus production... Find out about the brand new threat that may wipe out citrus production in the entire state of Florida as well as other threats to citrus production world-wide.

Other:As usual we will be having a short business meeting and the FDA Chapter will be handing out its student poster awards.
Dinner:Spring Salad with gorgonzola and candied Walnuts, Choice of Entrée (please select one on your RSVP form) Chicken breast with cornbread stuffing, Tilapia with roasted red pepper sauce, or Grilled sliced flank steak with horseradish demi-glaze, Chef's choice of starch and veggie, rolls and butter, Homemade strawberry shortcake for dessert.
