FDA CHAPTER OF SIGMA XI
AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR MICRBIOLOGY


MEETING

The Fall Meeting is scheduled for October 28, 1999. at 6:30 pm, at the Russell Auditorium, United States Armed Forces Institute of Pathology, which is located on the campus of the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research. The meeting will be proceeded by a light dinner of fruit and sandwiches.

The U.S. Army museum of pathology will be open for attendees from 4:30 pm.

DIRECTIONS

From the Beltway, I-495, take the Georgia Ave. exit, South, toward DC. Turn right (west) into the gates of the Walter Reed campus. Go to the right, around the hospital, and pass two stop signs. You will see the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology building on the right. It is a gray building with no windows. Park in front of the building. AFIP is building 54 on the Walter Reed campus.

SPEAKERS

Dr. Eric B. Kmiec, Thomas Jefferson University, Doylestown, Pennsylvania
Dr. Kmiec will highlight his investigations into searching for ways to add corrective genes to cells harboring defective genes.

Dr. Claire Fraser, President of the Institute of Genomic Research, Rockville, Maryland
Dr. Fraser will discuss the aspects of genomics related to infectious disease.

These two outstanding researchers promise an evening of exciting revelations about biotechnology and the formation of companies formed to develop commercial applications for targeted gene repair.
