The Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex not only boasts one of the only on-campus golf courses (two in fact) in intercollegiate athletics, but we have one of the most extensive practice and range facilities to help you get the most out of your game. Completion of the Spurgeon Center was the final step in the transformation of facilities at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex, which has undergone more than $8 million worth of improvements since 1996.

The Tom Spurgeon Golf Training Center was dedicated in October 2005, named in honor of Tom Spurgeon, a Purdue alumnus from Peoria, IL who made the lead gift of nearly $750,000 toward the center.

Spurgeon graduated from Purdue in 1961 with a bachelor's degree in industrial management. An entrepreneur who's built companies throughout the United States, he most recently was president and CEO of Lincoln Office in Peoria, Ill.

The $3 million, 11,400-square-foot indoor golf training center includes:

• Indoor putting green
• Swing-analysis video computer system
• Multiple heated hitting bays
• Team locker rooms
• Lounge
• Coaches' offices
• Golf shop
• Classroom

Driving Range
The Driving Range is located on the West end of the Spurgeon Training Center.

Indoor Heated Driving Range Bays
The Spurgeon Center features indoor hitting bays that allows you to practice inside, hitting balls out onto the range from artificial turf hitting surfaces. The bays are available to the public when not being used by the Purdue Men's and Women's Golf Teams and RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED.  Please call 765-494-3139 to schedule your Indoor Bay Time.

Short game areas

All short game practice areas are closed for the winter. This is to ensure quality putting surfaces throughout the rest of the year. 

The Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex has multiple practice greens that allow golfers to work on their short games. There are two putting greens located next to the clubhouse for players to practice putting before their round. The short game practice area across from the Spurgeon Center south of Cherry Lane is open to driving range patrons also.
