Purdue University offers a unique golf experience in the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex. Here you'll find two, 18-hole golf courses that were professionally designed and are excellently maintained.

Ackerman Hills is an 18-hole, par-71, championship golf course that sits quietly alongside Purdue's main campus. 
Designed by Indiana Golf Hall-of-Fame Member Bill Diddle in the early 1920's, Ackerman Hills is a traditional parkland-style golf course that works its way through mature trees and rolling hills.
Formerly known as the Purdue South Course, the Ackerman course has played host to an NCAA Championship and numerous other prestigious tournaments including the annual Drew Brees charity event. Ackerman Hills is sure to provide you with a fun test of golf!

Ackerman Hills features guarded greens, meandering holes, wildlife and the Purdue tradition which all culminate in an uncommon experience certain to create a memorable round.

Ackerman Hills blends the design of two architectural visionaries.
Built in 1934, Ackerman Hills was originally the anchor of Purdue's golfing facilities. The course was host to the NCAA Men's Golf Championships in 1961 when Purdue won the team championship and Jack Nickalus won the individual medal.

Just a few years later in 1968, the course was redesigned by Larry Packard and developed further in 1998 coinciding with the opening of the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex.

The course is named in recognition of Jim and Lois Ackerman and their support of Purdue Athletics.

Dan Ross, resident PGA Professional, loves his job! Great golf is the main reason.

Since coming to Purdue University and the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex, Dan has come to know and love “The Purdue Golf Experience.” He also has a unique perspective of Purdue golf: His father-in-law was a member of that famous 1961 Purdue Men's golf championship team. Nowadays, he enjoys overseeing such a prestigious facility. With great familiarity of the course, Dan offers a few helpful tips to those unfamiliar with the layout.

While Ackerman may be the easier of the two courses here at the Complex, it should still be respected. 
From the clubhouse, each golfer can immediately survey what is in store for their round as a sampling of the rolling terrain is visible from the clubhouse. However, this shouldn't scare anyone away as the course starts off with a few confidence-building holes. When asked for his overall advice on the course, Dan recommends that when it comes to the greens, aim for the center and you should be okay.
Here's what awaits you as you begin your round on Ackerman: The first hole is a fairly easy start to your round, measuring 295 yards. Dan suggests hitting anything from a 5-iron to a driver. Out of bounds lurks to the left. Stay right and aim for the green — but be careful, it's guarded by two bunkers.

The next several holes allow the golfer to steadily work the driver into play without severe consequence on the errant tee shot. However, by the middle of the front nine, golfers should be relaxed and grooved into their swing in preparation for several demanding holes that await them.

The greens can be one of the most challenging aspects of play on Ackerman Hills.
