Global Impact Manages CFCNCA for Sixth Year

The LFCC for the Combined Federal Campaign of the National Capital Area (CFCNCA) selected Global Impact as the Principal Combined Fund Organization (PCFO) to administer the CFCNCA for the 2008 campaign, for the sixth consecutive year. Global Impact is a 501(c)(3) non-profit federated group selected by and under the control of the Local Federal Coordinating Committee (LFCC) and the director of the Office of Personnel Management.

Global Impact manages the CFCNCA and the Combined Federal Campaign-Overseas (CFC-O), which rank at #1 and #2 for fundraising among the 300+ CFC campaigns nationwide.

In 2005, the CFCNCA received pledges totaling $57.6 million, making it the largest campaign in the history of the CFC program. This is the highest total ever pledged to an individual campaign and amounted to a 3 percent increase—or $1.6 million new dollars raised—over the 2004 pledges.

Heavy giving by deployed troops bolstered the CFC-O to a record total of $16 million. This represented a 6.8 percent increase over the previous year and the highest amount ever pledged in the campaign for U.S. military and civilian employees of the Department of Defense stationed overseas.

The nearly $268.5 million raised nationwide in 2005 represented a $11.88 million, or 4.6 percent increase, in pledges over the 2004 campaign. Of that increase CFCNCA and CFC-O are responsible for $2.65 million. In addition, the two Global Impact-managed campaigns added more than 4,300 new donors.

Among its other programs, Global Impact represents more than 50 of the most respected U.S.-based international charities in workplace giving campaigns across the nation. Global Impact is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping the world’s most vulnerable people. Through programs such as disaster relief, education, health training and economic programs, Global Impact funded charities promote self-sufficiency, strengthen communities and offer hope.

Since its inception in 1956, Global Impact has raised $1 billion to help others. The organization raises funds directly through workplace giving programs and online donations, and partners with corporations to organize their financial support in response to global humanitarian crises. Global Impact also manages donor advised funds for 23 corporate clients and the two largest workplace giving campaigns in the world: the Combined Federal Campaign of the National Capital Area (CFCNCA) in Washington, DC, and the Combined Federal Campaign–Overseas (CFC–O) for all overseas commands of the U.S. Department of Defense.

“People who need help and the charities that serve them know that every year the men and women of our Federal civil service and military services go beyond their official duties,” said Renée S. Acosta, president and CEO of Global Impact. “In addition, to protecting our homeland and environment, ensuring our safety and caring for our national parks, Federal employees in communities everywhere open their hearts and wallets to those who need financial support.”

Annually, the LFCC volunteers seek applications from qualified nonprofit organizations and federations to manage the CFCNCA as required by regulations governing the campaign.
