Annual Photo Contest

STUDY ABROAD PHOTO CONTEST 2008

The winning photographs in 2008 are posted below!

Purdue Study Abroad students may enter up to three photos from their experiences abroad to encourage others to go out into the world for learning and adventure AND to compete for prizes!  All submitted photos will be considered for the following three categories:

Travel Portraits – Locals in their own environment; celebrations, ceremonies, parades

Sense of Place – Shots that exude the feeling or emotion of a destination; landscapes, cityscapes

Spontaneous Moments – Photos that evoke the fun, unpredictable moments of studying abroad

CONTEST RULES

  • Eligible Purdue students must have been registered for a Study Abroad program in Fall 2007, Winter Break 2007, Spring 2008, Spring Break 2008, Summer 2008, or Calendar Year 2008
  • All photos must have been taken by the student submitting them
  • Entries from professional photographers are not allowed
  • Entries become the property of Purdue's Office of Programs For Study Abroad (but note that we have no intention of selling them)

Extended Deadline: Aug. 15, 2008 at 5:00 p.m.

TO SUBMIT AN ENTRY

Email your pictures to ecougill@purdue.edu with the subject “Photo Contest.”

In the body of the message, tell us:

  • your first and last name
  • your study abroad program
  • where and when you took each photo
  • a one-line description of each photo

HOW TO NAME YOUR FILES

Any photos that you enter must be named: Country_Your Last Name_Number.jpg.  

For example:

  • France_Smith_1.jpg
  • France_Smith_2.jpg
  • China_Anderson_1.jpg  
  • China_Anderson_2.jpg  

Your photos will be considered if they include all of the required information.

PRIZES

The 2008 winners will be announced at the Welcome Back Reception on August 27, 2008, 5-6:30 p.m. in the South Ballroom of the Purdue Memorial Union.  Any entry may be used on the Study Abroad website or in promotional literature.  Even if you don't win a prize, you may just see your photo on our website, on the calendar that we print each year, or in a promotional booklet or brochure. 

2008 Winners

The twelfth annual Programs for Study Abroad Photo Contest was a great success! Nearly four hundred photographs were submitted and ten winners were named.

The contest is made possible each year by our sponsors, a number of generous local businesses who provide the prizes. In 2008, our sponsors included Arni's, Bruno's Pizza, Fazoli's Restaurant, Follett's, La Scala, O'Bryan's Nine Irish Brothers, Outback Steakhouse, Pizza Hut, Puccini's, Purdue Convoacations, Student Universe, Texas Roadhouse, University Spirit and Walmart.
