The first portion of the seminar will address intellectual property basics. The attorneys of Bose McKinney & Evans LLP will provide basic information on various types of IP, including:

The second half of the seminar is devoted to the protection of intellectual property. The attorneys will discuss what you can do on your own to protect your IP, and when you should consider consulting an attorney or patent agent (or for Purdue University staff or students, to call the Office of Technology Commercialization to discuss the potential intellectual property).

Other related topics will include public disclosure and publication and determination of inventorship (and the consequences of incorrect inventorship). The attorneys will address the importance of documenting ideas and inventions.
