Privacy Policy

Thank you for visiting the Combined Federal Campaign of the National Capital Area (CFCNCA) website. Your privacy is of great importance to us and our website has been developed with that in mind. We recognize your right to know what information is being collected about you and how that information will be used, as well as our obligations to limit collection and protect what we do collect.

Our privacy policy tells you about our information practices when you visit us online to browse, obtain information, or make a pledge. The policy includes, among other things, what data is collected and why; ways for you to access information or submit inquiries; security features; and website analysis tools used.

The CFCNCA respects the privacy of its online visitors. At our site, we do not collect personally identifiable information from individuals unless they provide it to us voluntarily and knowingly. This means we do not require you to register or provide information to us in order to view public areas of our site.

Information Collection and Use

The CFCNCA only gathers personally identifiable data, such as names, addresses, zip/postal codes, employee identification, etc., when voluntarily submitted by a visitor for the purpose of making a pledge. Personal information is only collected over encrypted links, stored in an encrypted manner and the results are only made available to the relevant payroll office (upon request) or to our pledge processing office. The CFCNCA does not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise provide your personal information to outside parties. Contractors that assist us in processing Combined Federal Campaign pledges must adhere to our privacy requirements. Visitors who are interested in making an online contribution can use the CFCNCA online tools, and submit an online pledge form. This requires that the visitor provide an e-mail address and information that identifies the federal employee, such as a social security number or employee identification number. This personal information is collected over encrypted links and stored in an encrypted manner. It is provided to the relevant payroll offices upon request.

Cookies

A cookie is a piece of data stored on the visitor's computer tied to information about the visitor. The CFCNCA only uses cookies to keep track of your current session at the site. The site will operate properly without cookies of any kind unless you browse away from a transaction in progress. All cookies are destroyed when you leave the site.

Log Files

Like most standard website servers, we use log files. This includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site, track visitors' movements in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. We do not share individual information gathered though log files with third parties.

Pledge Processing Privacy and Authorization

[This applies only to participants in the e-Giving program.]

Executive Order No. 12353 authorizes the U.S. Office of Personnel Management to conduct fundraising activities and to establish procedures for collecting information related to such activities.

Public Law 104-134 (April 26, 1996) requires that any person doing business with the Federal Government furnish a Social Security Number (SSN) or tax identification number. This is an amendment to title 31, Section 7701.

This collected information will be disclosed to organizations maintaining the accounting of contributions and to your payroll office.

Additional disclosure may be made to the Department of Treasury to make proper financial adjustments to a court of another agency when the government is party to a suit; and to the Internal Revenue Service and state an local taxing authorities regarding income tax returns.

The furnishing of the SSN, along with other data requested, is voluntary. However, failure to furnish any of the requested information may result in errors or noncompliance with your request for a payroll deduction by your agency.

If you are making a one-time, lump-sum gift and, therefore, not using the payroll deduction method of payment, you are not required to furnish your SSN.

Security: Detection of Unauthorized Intrusions

For site security purposes and to ensure that this service remains available to all users, this computer system employs software programs to monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage. Except for authorized law enforcement investigations, no other attempts are made to identify individual users or their usage habits other than those uses identified in this policy. Intentional misuse of secure information will be investigated and may result in federal prosecution.

Security: Secured Data Transmissions

The CFCNCA website takes a variety of precautions to protect our visitors' information. When visitors submit sensitive information through the website, their information is protected both online and offline.

When visitors provide personal or sensitive information when submitting an online pledge form, information is encrypted and protected using Secure Socket Layer (SSL), the industry standard encryption software. While on a secure page the URL in your browser will change to "https," instead of "http," and the lock icon on the bottom of web browsers such as Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer becomes locked.

Moreover, personal information is stored in a highly encrypted database on servers which reside in a high security facility.
