Who is listed in this atlas?

The local farms and food businesses listed in this atlas are all family or cooperatively owned and sell products grown on their farm or produced by their business. They’ve pledged to operate in a way that:

  • protects our region’s land and water resources by reducing the application of synthetic pesticides and fertilizers

  • provides safe and fair working conditions

  • treats their animals with care and respect

On this web site, you’ll find just some of the many southern Wisconsin farms and businesses that sell sustainably grown food at their farms, local farmers’ markets, co-ops, retail stores, and restaurants. Some are community supported agriculture (CSA) farms that offer you a share of the weekly harvest. Farmers’ markets can connect you with even more farmers in our region. And our sponsors include retail stores, restaurants, co-ops and other businesses that feature locally grown food.

The Farm Fresh Atlas is brought to you by REAP Food Group, the Dane County Farmers' Market, the Friends of the Dane County Farmers' Market, and the UW-Madison Center for Integrated Agricultural Systems. The 2008 Southern Wisconsin Farm Fresh Atlas is generously underwritten by Heartland Credit Union.
