Woman allegedly hits man on scooter, goes to salon
BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. -- Police said an elderly woman in Palm Beach County crashed into a man on a scooter and then kept driving to make her hair appointment. Boynton Beach police spokeswoman Stephanie Slater said a 77-year-old woman was arrested Thursday for leaving the scene of an injury crash. (Updated 6:33 p.m. PT)

Woman allegedly wallops hockey player with stick
KETCHUM, Idaho -- Police said a 52-year-old Ketchum woman is facing misdemeanor battery charges for whacking an opposing player with a hockey stick during a no-contact hockey game. Shoplifter gets run over twice by her getaway car
CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- Authorities are looking for a shoplifter who was run over twice by her getaway car after stealing $1,200 worth of designer purses from a Cape Coral store. A T.J. Maxx security guard told police she saw a woman stuff six designer Dooney & Bourke purses into her pants Tuesday morning and walk out of the store. NY man accused of stealing shark from pet store
FRANKLIN SQUARE, N.Y. -- A New York man is accused of going fishing in a pet store aquarium where he caught a $350 shark and smuggled it out of the shop under his jacket. Police said the Freeport man released the contraband shark into his home aquarium, where they say he also kept a green moray eel he had purchased with a stolen credit card. (Updated 2:42 p.m. PT)

Neb. mother, daughter accused of forging checks
LINCOLN, Neb. -- A mother and daughter have been arrested in Lincoln on suspicion of working together to forge checks. Police said officers arrested a 42-year-old woman earlier this month after identifying her as the person who passed eight of 20 bad checks - totaling nearly $8,000 - at area grocery stores. HAMMOND, Ind. -- In a scene straight out of the movie "A Christmas Story," a 10-year-old boy got his tongue stuck to a metal light pole. Police said the unidentified fourth-grader was able to tell them that a friend dared him to lick the pole Wednesday night. Temperatures in Hammond were around 10 degrees at the time.
