Mill Creek Trail
Trail Highlights
The trail leads the rider through remote areas of the Ozark National
Forest and features spectacular mountainous terrain, scenic views,
lush upland hardwood forests, unique rock outcroppings and clear
mountain streams. The main trail and inside loops are connected
to accommodate riders who want to vary the length of their trips.
Stay on trails. Private property borders the trail in various
places. Please respect the private landowners by not trespassing.
Length
There are 27 miles of main trail marked in blue and 15 miles of
interior loops and shortcut trails.
Directions
From Fayetteville, take Arkansas 16 east to Combs, turn south
on Forest Service Road (FS Road) 1007 for 4 miles, turn left on
FS Road 1509 1/2 mile to the trailhead. From Ozark, take Arkansas
23 north to Cass, turn left (west) on FS Road 1520 for 8 miles
to FS Road 1509, then north 4 miles to trailhead.
Trail Information
Trail is gravel or unsurfaced with rough and rocky terrain. Mile
markers are posted on the main trail.
Site Amenities
A vault toilet is available at the trailhead on FS Road 1509.
The graveled trailhead parking area contains a loading ramp and
information board.
Safety
Beware of stream crossings after heavy rains. Swift water may
cause unsteady footing and could wash away your vehicle.
Watch for other ATVs, horses and mountain bikes. Please wear
gloves, helmets, shin guards and other safety equipment when riding
ATVs and mountain bikes.
Difficulty Level
Trails vary from easy to most difficult.
Requirements
No camping is allowed at trailhead. State laws regarding spark
arresters and mufflers will be enforced. ATVs are not allowed
in designated campgrounds except for entering and leaving the
area.
Recommended Items
Remember to bring drinking water -- it is not furnished at the
trailhead. Please pick up and pack out all of your litter.
