2009 Inauguration Information


NOTICE: A number of airlines that serve BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport have added flights for the Inauguration. Please contact the airlines or a travel professional regarding availability.

PRESIDENTIAL INAUGURAL TOUR BUS AND LIMO STAGING AT BWI MARSHALL
All tour buses, shuttles and limos picking up passengers at BWI Marshall Airport must call Stephen Moe, Acting Manager, Division of Parking and Transportation, Maryland Aviation Administration for staging location and instructions. Mr. Moe can be contacted at 410-859-7298 or smoe@bwiairport.com.



Transportation Options from BWI Marshall Airport to Washington


BWI Express / B-30 Metrobus service to Greenbelt Metro Station

BWI Marshall Airport area customers should consider using the BWI Express / B-30 Metrobus service, which provides a direct connection between BWI Marshall Airport and the Greenbelt Metro Station, located on the Washington Metro’s Green Line.

There are two BWI Express / B-30 Metrobus stops on the lower level of BWI Marshall Airport. In addition, there is a stop at the BWI Business District Light Rail station, located on Elkridge Landing Road near BWI Marshall Airport.

During the Inaugural period, the B-30 Metrobus will run on an enhanced schedule, with buses departing BWI Marshall Airport every twenty minutes, on weekdays starting at 6:58 AM and on weekends, starting at 9:38 AM.

Amtrak and MARC Commuter Rail to Washington

On Inauguration Day, January 20, all MARC and Amtrak trains to Washington, D.C. will require advance purchase of roundtrip tickets. Visitors and local residents hoping to use rail service from BWI Marshall Airport or other stations must have those reserved tickets. Rail tickets to Washington will not be sold on Inauguration Day.
As of early January 2009, all rail tickets to Washington were sold out.

Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) Commuter Bus

The MTA will operate commuter bus service from select locations to several Washington-area Metro stations. The service will be available both on the Martin Luther King Holiday and on Inauguration Day.

Reservations are not required, and tickets can be purchased onboard the buses. All shuttles will charge a $10 round-trip fare. Exact change only. Capacity is limited.

Personal or Rental Car Driving Information

Travel on the road network in and out of the Washington, D.C. region will be extremely difficult on Inauguration Day. Due to the expected volume of traffic and security restrictions for the Inauguration, all roads in and around Washington will be tightly controlled.

BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport Ranked # 2 Healthiest U.S. Airport by Health Magazine

BWI Airport, MD - December 02, 2008
Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport was rated the second healthiest American airport in the December issue of Health magazine. Health editors and the magazine’s panel of experts highlighted several features of BWI Marshall, including the Airport’s security checkpoints, the BWI trail, and the availability of massage services at the Destination Relaxation concession.
