Fort Mason Pier Two Seismic Retrofit and Structural Repair

The seismic retrofit and structural repair of Pier 2 at Lower Fort Mason was approved in 2002 and the work was completed by 2004. The project was needed because the pier was susceptible to seismic damage and possible collapse in the event of a major earthquake. In addition, incidents involving deteriorating timber piles falling into the bay have presented immediate floating hazards for small watercraft. Retrofit and repair are required to protect public health and safety and to stabilize this key structure within the San Francisco Port of Embarkation National Historic Landmark District against further deterioration.

The environmental documents are not available electronically at this time.
