Recombinant bovine somatotropin (rbST), which is also known as recombinant bovine growth hormone, is an animal drug product used to increase milk production in dairy cows. FDA approved a bovine somatotropin (rbST) product in 1993 after a comprehensive review of the product's safety and efficacy, including human food safety.
