Paula W. Yoon, ScD, MPH
Short Biography

Paula Yoon is an epidemiologist and the Team Leader for the Health Services Research and Registries Team, Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention.  Prior to her current position which she has held since May 2007, Dr. Yoon was the Team Leader for the Prevention and Translation Research Team, National Office of Public Health Genomics (NOPHG), CDC.  Dr Yoon joined NOPHG in 2000 and led a public health initiative to evaluate the use of family medical history for detecting and preventing common chronic diseases.  Dr Yoon joined CDC in 1994 as an Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer in the National Center for Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities and worked in the Birth Defects and Genetics Diseases Branch until 2000.  Prior to CDC, Dr. Yoon worked as a consultant in Geneva, Switzerland with the World Health Organization, the International Labour Office, and the United Nations Subcommittee on Nutrition; and in Baltimore at the Johns Hopkins Institute for International Programs.   Dr Yoon received her MPH in 1987 and her ScD in 1994 from Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health.
