Introduction

Many of FDA's initiatives around pediatrics have aimed to improve medical product research in children. This is making for safer and more effective treatments. Most of this work so far has focused on drugs, but activity is picking up in the area of medical devices. FDA also helps protect the nation’s food supply and ensures the safety and effectiveness of vaccines, which have contributed to a significant reduction in many childhood diseases.
