Key governing principles of The Registry include openness and transparency. The Registry is committed to involving public stakeholders as it develops its standards and protocols and, in the future, implements and modifies program components.

ADVISORY COMMITTEE

The Registry interacts on an ongoing basis with stakeholders through its Advisory Committee. The Advisory Committee includes experts on the reporting of GHG emissions from industry, the service sector, environmental organizations, environmental consulting firms, and local governments.  Directors onThe Registry’s Board also serve on the Advisory Committee; this ensures an ongoing, direct interaction between stakeholders and The Registry. The Committee convenes on a regular basis.

PUBLIC INPUT AND PUBLIC PROCESS

The Registry solicits public input on its standards and protocols through a series of public forums, including:

  • website postings of draft protocols
  • well-publicized public comment periods
  • public workshops
  • public attendance at annual Board meetings
  • meetings with individuals, as requested
  • submittal of public comments through email, website, or postal service

The Registry considers its protocols to be “living documents” that will be revised and updated as Members provide feedback, new information becomes available, and best practices evolve. We expect and welcome input from the public on the protocols after The Registry is launched.
