U.S. Food and Drug Administration PESTDATA File Update Date: June 2005 CHANGES TO DATA SINCE PREVIOUS (November 2001) VERSION: none CHANGES TO STRUCTURE SINCE PREVIOUS VERSION: none ----------------------------------------------------------------------- PESTDATA.txt contains information organized as in Appendix I to FDAÕs Pesticide Analytical Manual Vol. I (PAM I). It is a text file, specially formatted for import by database or spreadsheet software; the file contains a tab between fields and a carriage return plus line feed between records. It can be opened with word processing software, but it is not meant to be read that way. For example, a typical line from PESTDATA.txt reads: parathion[tab]C10H14NO5PS[tab]0.98[tab]NI(WB)4/NP2[tab] 1.91[tab]FP2/NI6[tab]1.07[tab]FP2/NI4[tab]2.5[tab]FP7[tab]C[tab] C [tab]C[tab]15[tab]2 Instead of trying to "read" this, use software designed to create a database. Use one of the common database or spreadsheet programs, and "open" or "import" PESTDATA.txt to create a database. The file contains NNN+1 records. Each record contains fields of information in the following order and each field has, at a maximum, the number of characters shown. Entries in the first record, which contains field names, may be longer.
