    Lt. j.g. Dakata Brodie, an Air Station Houston looks on as Brian Hill, a University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) cancer patient sits in an HH-65C rescue helicopter at Victory Camp, located in Alvin, Texas, Sept. 6, 2008. Crewmembers from Air Station Houston pariciapted in an MD Anderson Hummer Run event by conducting a fly-over. After the crew landed they provided a static display of the helicopter and invited participants to explore the inner workings of a Coast Guard Dolphin helicopter. Hill, the son of Forest Hill an Alvin, Texas, Police Officer participated in the MD Anderson Hummer Run event. The day consisted of Hummer rides for the children, as well as games and demonstrations at Victory Camp. Shawn Gilcrease, coordinator of MD Anderson's Hummer Run, said the goal was to encourage the children to enjoy the day's events. "These kids go through things in one day that we will never experience. They are the true heroes and for this one day they get to feel like a normal kid," said Gilcrease.     NEW ORLEANS - Coast Guard Station New Orleans crewmembers discuss search and rescue equipment with members of the Baton Rouge, La., Advocate Summer Symposium program here Tuesday, June 17, 2008. The symposium program is an educational service developed to reward local teachers through various familiarization workshops. The Coast Guard volunteered to particpate in the program and demostrated search and rescue procedures with a rescue helicopter crew from Air Station New Orleans. Crewmembers from ATON team in Venice, LA., provided boat ride alongs. The symposium members were also educated on marine safety and pollutions well as the types of equipment used during small boat search and rescue operations.

    NEW ORLEANS- Brandon Jones, 14, and Riceidy Guerrero, 14, students at St. Ville Accelerated Academy for High School Preparation, sit behind the controls of a HH-65C Rescue Helicopter at Air Station New Orleans, here, Wednesday, April 30, 2008. As part of the Coast Guard's Partnership in Education Program, St. Ville, along with Bunche Academy, toured the air station to learn what it would take to be a Coast Guard aviator. The Coast Guard, in support of the National and Community Service Act of 1990, designed the PIE program to enhance educational opportunities for the nation's youth. The Coast Guard's comprehensive program places personnel in direct contact with students at the elementary and secondary levels. Coast Guard personnel volunteer their time and resources to help students develop to their full potential. Coast Guardsmen are involved in tutoring, classroom presentations, field trip sponsorship, mentoring, and enhancing schools' physical environments.

    GALVESTON, Texas - A Marine explains the various weapons that Marines are trained on to a group of Coast Guard Reserve members and civilian employers during Sealift 2008 here, Friday, April 11, 2008. Civilian employers and other reserve members were able to see how the Marine and Coast Guard reserve members trained during their weekend drills, including participating in weapons simulations, Amphibious Assault Vehicle rides, touring a Coast Guard ship and small boats, a rescue helicopter static display and a Search and Rescue demonstration. Sealift was hosted by the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve and allows the employers of National Guard and reserve members to better understand what their members do during reserve weekend training.
