    ****Coast Guard Feature Story*** Safety for boaters was the key issue when multiple state, local and federal agencies crowded under a rainy roof and to discussed what simple actions can save a life in Captree State Park, West Islip, N.Y., today. “After highways, recreational boating has the second highest fatality rate. There were 200 boating fatalities last year,” said Gossard. “We can cut into this issue and make a difference.     Coast Guard Petty Officer 2nd Class Steven P. Endicott, a 26-year-old Marmora, N.J., native, received the honor of being recognized as the First Coast Guard District's 2007 Enlisted Person of the Year at the Coast Guard Integrated Support Command in Boston, during a ceremony April 9, 2008.

David Clark places his gloved hands on a barrel and peers inside.     The sound of the bodhran drum resonates off the buildings down Fifth Avenue in Manhattan Mar. 17th. The sweet wail of the bagpipes helps the marchers count each step and matches them with the beat. For the first time, Coast Guard Sector New York personnel marched in the parade.
