Emergency Indicating Radio Beacons

Effective February 1st, 2009, both 121.5 and 243 MHz Emergency Indicating Radio Beacons (EPIRB) will no longer be monitored.  Mariners are encouraged to have a device onboard, as these can greatly increase the chances of being rescued quickly.  Boaters will need to purchase and register a 406 MHz EPIRB to help ensure their safety on the water.
