The southeast region is unique, encompassing the southeastern shorelines, the southern highlands, and all the diverse parks in-between.  In addition to natural resources like Mammoth Cave and the Great Smoky Mountains, the southeast region boasts significant cultural heritage sites such as the Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park, the Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site, and the Horseshoe Bend National Military Park.

Parks like the Ocmulgee National Monument and the Blue Ridge Parkway face major threats including poor air quality, pressure from adjacent development, and chronic under funding.NPCA is currently collaborating with local communities, and elected officials to promote legislation that addresses the air & water quality, sustainable growth of adjacent communities, and funding for the 2016 Centennial Challenge.
