Tom Hanks Says Mormon Supporters of Prop-8 “Un-American”

Tom Hanks, an Executive Producer for HBO’s controversial polygamist series “Big Love,” made his feelings toward the Mormon Church’s involvement in California's Prop 8 (which prohibits gay marriage) very clear at the show’s premiere party on Wednesday night.

“The truth is this takes place in Utah, the truth is these people are some bizarre offshoot of the Mormon Church, and the truth is a lot of Mormons gave a lot of money to the church to make Prop-8 happen,” he told Tarts. “There are a lot of people who feel that is un-American, and I am one of them. I do not like to see any discrimination codified on any piece of paper, any of the 50 states in America, but here's what happens now. A little bit of light can be shed, and people can see who's responsible, and that can motivate the next go around of our self correcting Constitution, and hopefully we can move forward instead of backwards. So let's have faith in not only the American, but Californian, constitutional process.”

When informed of the "Forrest Gump" star's comments, Kim Farah, a spokesperson for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, told Tarts, "Expressing an opinion in a free and democratic society is as American as it gets."

Bill McKeever, a rep for the Mormonism Research Ministry, added, "Personally, I find it un-American to tell people that they shouldn’t vote their conscience. Hanks said he doesn’t 'like to see any discrimination codified on any piece of paper.' Considering that just about every law discriminates in some form or another, makes this comment ridiculous. Hanks’ comment shows that he very much believes in discriminating against people with whom he disagrees. I may not agree with Mormon theology, but I certainly defend their right to express their opinion."

'Big Love' Stars' Polygamy Picks

And while Hanks said he “won the lottery” with wife Rita Wilson and “wouldn’t even bother with anyone else,” some of the other “Big Love” stars already have a few men in mind for multiple marriages.

Ewan McGregor, Ryan Gosling and Tom Hanks,” Amanda Seyfried said. “Tom is as funny as hell.”

As for her co-star Ginnifer Goodwin

“If I could marry any guys in Hollywood, I would include John Wayne, Paul Newman and my third would have to be Bill Paxton,” Goodwin said, motioning to her co-star. “You can't go wrong with Bill Paxton!”

Goodwin starred alongside the late Heath Ledger in “Brokeback Mountain," and was overwhelmed with emotion regarding his Golden Globes win, saying his performance in “The Dark Knight” was “just perfect.”

“I thought it was spot on, but a sad moment nonetheless,” Hanks added. “Every time I saw Heath Ledger, he was a different human being on screen. He was a brilliant actor at least for the handful of things that we are able to see him in for the rest of time, so God rest him, and good job to those people who choose to hand out trophies.”

Miranda Kerr Ditches Orlando For The Ladies; Paris Hilton Makes Out With New Man

Genetically blessed babes Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr joined a group of six other friends at Hollywood hotspot Katsuya on Wednesday evening, although it sounds like Bloom was left to entertain for quite some time without his other-half.

According to Pop Tarts spies, Kerr and Bloom played flirty footsies over sushi before the VS supermodel made a move for the ladies restroom alone – returning like, half-an-hour later.

Paris Hilton (donning a peculiar plaid dress) was also out and about on the town Wednesday night, hitting up Crown Bar with a new man. We’re told the perennial party princess spent most of the night making out in a dark corner with a tall, dark and handsome new mystery man. Hmmm, sounds a little like high school.

Seated at a table near Hilton were Jesse McCartney, Frankie Vallie Jr. and the newly-single “The Hills” hottie Doug Reinhardt, who was recently dumped by Amanda Bynes. Although Reinhardt is certainly not shedding too many tears as he attracted flocks of females and even pinched a couple of random beauties on the bottom. Charming.

Leo And Bar Back On

They’ve been on and off for years (but definitely off toward the end of last year), although it looks like Leonardo DiCaprio and Bar Refaeli have rekindled their romance.

The “Reservation Road” star brought the supermodel as his date to last weekend’s Feeding America party at the private residence of 360 partner, Eric Kranzler. According to insiders, the two are very much “together” and both want to give things a serious go after spending a heart-warming New Years together in Cabo, Mexico.

Also in attendance at the informative affair were Courteney Cox and David Arquette (with daughter Coco), Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale, Amanda Peet and David Benioff, Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo, Tobey Maguire and Jennifer Meyer, Sheryl Crowe, Josh Groban, Ben Harper and Jennifer Aniston.

The stars got together to learn more about the nation's largest hunger relief organization and be the first to see Shepard Fairey unveil his original artwork created to raise awareness about hunger in America. This piece was Fairey's first piece of work since his iconic Obama poster was acquired by the Smithsonian. We’re told Aniston got a little watery-eyed when hearing heart-wrenching stories about families going without food and stayed behind for an extra half-an-hour to find out more about the cause and how she could help. Awww.

Cheetah Girl No More: Adrienne Bailon Moves On

Adrienne Bailon hit headlines late last year when a PR stunt to leak nude photos went wrong, but the 25-year-old can breathe a sigh of relief as she’s no longer pigeonholed as a tween idol.

We’re told Bailon’s contract with “Cheetah Girls” expired just a couple of weeks ago and the now former Disney dame is capitalizing on her new-found freedom. Bailon’s rep confirmed that she’s getting her very own MTV reality show which we hear will follow her professional pursuits in New York.

Perhaps she’s getting tips from her boyfriend’s sister, Kim Kardashian (who was overheard chatting about her new fitness video coming out). Kimmy K must be doing something right, she’s looking tinier than ever. Pop Tarts spotted the BFF’s dining at Asia De Cuba (Audrina Patridge was also there with her sometimes beau Justin Bobby) before hitting up Ralph Fiennes’ L.A Confidential Pre-Golden Globes party at SkyBar. Bailon and Kardashian stayed close all night, giggling and whispering like excited little girls.
