Gale warnings lead to delay of Tanner season
Because of gail warnings — or winds 35 knots of higher — and a storm warning of 50-knot winds for tomorrow, the start of the Kodiak District Tanner crab season is delayed for another 24 hours as of today, said Nick Sagalkin, Alaska Department of Fish and Game area management biologist for shellfish in Kodiak.

Local youth accompany professional piano duo
The Kodiak Youth Orchestra performs with two internationally renowned musicians Friday at Kodiak High School. Joining the ensemble at 7 p.m. in the Gerald C. Wilson Auditorium are Julia Amanda Kruger and Victor Bunin, a duo whose many accolades include performing during United Nations functions in Europe.

Tonight’s boys game canceled
The Kodiak boys basketball game against ACS tonight has been canceled due to weather conditions in Anchorage.

Early season success
Last Saturday, the Kodiak girls basketball team played in what might be the longest game in the history of the program — a three-overtime affair.
