Policies & Legislation
Local, regional, and national policies,
agreements, and legislation guide our priorities and procedures.
Many of our regulations are explained in the Code
of Federal Regulations.
Projects are planned to meet objectives of special programs and policies,
such as the following:
- Payments to states
- Roadless area conservation
|
The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) provides that any person
has the right to request federal agency records and obtain copies
of records unless they are protected from disclosure under exemptions
in the law.
Appeals & Litigation
Forest Service managers make many resource management decisions,
which may be subject to appeal (request to a higher authority for
administrative review of a decision).
To view our Appeal Responses, please visit the Forest
Service Appeal Response page for the Bighorn National Forest.
Pre-decisional Objections
Proposed Forest Service decisions regarding hazardous fuel reduction
projects are subject to a "pre-decisional" review process.
In these cases, the public may submit comments on the project for
consideration prior to the final decision being signed.
To view our Objection Responses, please visit the Forest
Service Objection Response page for the Bighorn National Forest.
