Gulf of Mexico Alliance    
The Gulf of Mexico Alliance is a partnership among U.S. Gulf States to improve the sustainability of the Gulf. The Alliance is working toward the first regional implementation of the U.S. Ocean Action Plan, the Administration's response to the U.S. Commission on Ocean Policy, the first time in a generation that the U.S. has assessed its ocean policies.

Reef Check    
A global volunteer effort by teams of recreational divers led by experienced marine scientists that raises public awareness about the value of and threats to coral reefs, and solutions to these problems, and obtains high quality data on coral reef status to allow them to be managed.

Medcoast    
Medcoast aims to contribute to coastal and marine conservation in the Mediterranean and the Black Sea, through improved coastal management practices. Ocean Adventure!    
Hands-on marine education programs in New England. Topics include:coastal geology, marine ecology, and watersheds (K-12). Programs range from one hour to four days. American Fisheries Society Home Page    
AFS website offers a mentoring program for high school students and provides a professional mentor and a summer-long, hands-on experience in fisheries science; student section; important issues in fisheries science.

Marine Educational and Environmental Research Institute      
A marine institute based in the Cayman Islands where teachers can participate in a summer field course on the geology, ecology and evolution of coral reefs. Teachers can receive up to 6 graduate college credits and earn their SCUBA certification, and will complete a project which can be developed into a course or laboratory exercises for K-12. Undergrad and Grad courses are also available.

1 Planet 1 Ocean is a new nonprofit organization founded to explore, restore and sustain the oceans through strong international partnerships, including the Gulf of Mexico and Cuba. In its first major project, the Living Gulf Project, 1planet1ocean is working to make the Gulf of Mexico a model of sustainability and includes a project to explore and protect Cuba’s Gulf of Mexico coast.
