On October 11, 2005, Regional Forester Linda Goodman signed a Record of Decision (ROD) guiding the invasive plant management program in the Pacific Northwest (PNW) Region. The decision amended all National Forest Land and Resource Management Plans (LRMPs) in the Region by adding new management direction relative to invasive plants. The new management direction increased the emphasis on invasive plant prevention, and expanded the invasive plant treatment tools available on National Forest System (NFS) lands. This decision provided guidance, but did not approve any treatment projects.

Currently, several National Forests (NFs) are proposing site-specific invasive plant treatment projects. These treatment proposals are based on the location; biology and size of the target invasive plant species; site characteristics; and integrated resource objectives. Analysis is underway for these projects. Additional Forests have completed or are working on similar projects. (Details will be added as available).
