The Gas Log Purchase Incentive Program

What is the AQMD's gas log purchase-incentive program?

As part of the Healthy Hearths initiative, the AQMD Governing Board approved funding to reduce the cost of purchasing and installing gas log sets in local area households. Under the program, residents can receive a $125 discount toward the price of purchasing and installing gas log sets to replace wood-burning in existing fireplaces.

How does the program work?

First, go to one of the participating dealers (XLS, 64k) (PDF, 40k). The list of participating dealers has been arranged by ZIP code to help you find the store that is most convenient for you. After selecting a product you like, the participating dealer will reduce the purchase and installation price by $125. You can then work with the dealer to arrange for product installation.

Am I eligible to receive an incentive?

The program is open to residents of the South Coast Air Basin. The South Coast Air Basin includes all of Orange County and the non-desert portions of Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. Click on ZIP codes (XLS, 92k) (PDF, 227k) to see if you can participate in the program. If you reside in one of the few ZIP codes that are highlighted, please email Mike Laybourn at mlaybourn@aqmd.gov or call him at (909) 396-3066 for a final determination of program eligibility.

Do I need to submit any rebate forms or paperwork?

No. The participating dealer will fill out all of the necessary paperwork. A signature at the time of completion is required.

How soon after purchase can I expect installation?

Product installation and scheduling will be worked out between you and the participating dealer. Every effort will be made to have the installation completed as soon as possible.

What is involved in installing a gas log set?

Professional installation of a gas log set typically takes 30 to 60 minutes. Click here to see a series of photos of an installation.

How many gas-log units will be available?

AQMD's pilot program includes funding for 5,000 gas-log units. Units will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. In addition, there may be future funding opportunities if this program is successful.
