Jay Dolan talked about his book The Irish Americans: A History (Bloomsbury Press; October 28, 2008). In his book Mr. Dolan recounts Irish immigration to America during the potato famine, the subsequent years of prejudice towards Irish Americans, and the rise of Irish politics that included the election of President John F. Kennedy. Among his remarks he recounted characters from his book and his own family history. He responded to audience members' questions.

Jay Dolan is an emeritus history professor as well as the founder of the Cushwa Center for the Study of American Catholicism at the University of Notre Dame.
