As an agency, the Architect of the Capitol is responsible for construction, maintenance, and modification of the elements comprising the "city within a city" that is the Capitol complex. Architects, engineers and technicians design new structures, spaces, and building systems as well as modifications and upgrades to those already in place. A mix of AOC employees and contractors bring these designs to reality. Employees in the various skilled and unskilled trades maintain the facilities in optimal capacity. Capitol Power Plant employees ensure the effective production of steam and chilled water for the Capitol complex.
