Frank Statement on HUD Secretary Jackson Resignation

Washington, DC - Rep. Barney Frank, chairman of the House Committee on Financial Services today released the following statement regarding HUD Secretary Alphonso Jackson’s resignation:

“It is essential the President immediately name an acting secretary who will have the full authority to work with us in making the decisions we need to deal with the housing finance crisis.  During the Bush Administration, and particularly the last year, HUD has fallen far short of playing the constructive role that is required.  I along with other members of the committee hope we will be able to get to work immediately with a new leader of HUD who is prepared to perform the role the department should play.”
