The
Office of the State Assessor was established primarily to:
- Advise
and assist municipalities on assessment and taxation issues,
including the preparation of educational materials.
- Develop
the annual full value determination (FVD).
- Administer
the Senior Citizen and Disabled Veteran Property Tax Exemption
Program and the Senior Citizen and Disabled Veteran Property
Tax Equivalency Program.
- Monitor
municipal assessment and taxation practices and procedures.
The Office
of the State Assessor also:
- Annually
compiles and publishes Alaska Taxable, a document
that presents a wide range of assessment and taxation information
for Alaskan municipalities. The linked information at the

- Provides
educational training classes on assessment issues.
- Provides
Board of Equalization training.
- In
concert with the Alaska Association of Assessing Officers,
is formulating assessment standards required by law.aa
The Office of the State Assessor has developed a database to assist local government
jurisdictions store and analyze their property records. The file also will assist local
government taxing jurisdictions in filing their annual assessment reports. The file is a
last year Microsoft Access file and may be downloaded from this site.
