Internships
We welcome undergraduate students and recent college graduates. The internship is unpaid and students are not required to be from Indiana.
Part-time and full-time internships are available throughout the year. In order to earn college credit, a student must commit to at least 10 hours per week.
Interns are placed in my Washington, DC office and my district office, located in Indianapolis.
Interns in my Washington, DC office work closely with the professional staff on a variety of legislative projects. Responsibilities include attending hearings, preparing legislative reports, researching specific issues and compiling information to respond to constituents' inquiries. Some clerical work is also required. Interns learn the legislative process, gain valuable hands on experience and have the ability to network on the Hill.
Interns in my district office concentrate on researching constituent inquiries for information and help in dealing with federal agencies. In addition, interns accompany district staff to meetings of local civic and professional organizations. Some clerical work is expected.
Summer intern housing is available in university dormitories and year-round in rental apartments in the surrounding area.
Interns are selected on the basis of a written application and a personal interview. Applications may be obtained by by clicking here (pdf required, click here to download pdf).. Please send completed applications to the address below, or fax to 202-225-5633.
