Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge Applauds 11th Congressional District Fulbright Scholars

Washington, D.C. - Upon receiving word from the State Department on this year’s Fulbright Scholarship recipients from the Eleventh Congressional District of Ohio, Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge, commended these individuals for their outstanding academic achievements.

“On behalf of the 11th Congressional District of Ohio, I would like to offer my sincere and highest praise for these talented individuals,” said Congresswoman Fudge. “These individuals have been selected on the basis of stellar academic or professional achievement, as well as leadership in their respective fields.”

The Fulbright scholars from the 11th Congressional District of Ohio are as follows:
Dr. William Cater of the University of Findlay who will study environmental sciences in Nepal; Mr. Timothy Casey of Case Western who will study law in Argentina; Ms. Jessica Kahn of Kenyon College who will be teaching English as a foreign language in Macao; Dr. Marie Lathers of Case Western Reserve University who will be studying language and literature in Cameroon.”

“The Fulbright Program provides an excellent opportunity for people to see how other countries approach education. It is important for constituents to participate in this prestigious program so they can exchange ideas and develop new ones that they then bring back to Ohio,” remarked Congresswoman Fudge. ”

“The Fulbright Program, America’s flagship international exchange program, is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Established by Congress in 1946, the Program’s purpose is to build mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the rest of world. Since its inception, the Fulbright Program has exchanged over a quarter of a million people in over 155 countries worldwide. An annual Congressional appropriation, along with significant contributions from participating foreign governments and the private sector in the U.S. and abroad, fund the Program.”
