Washington, D.C.— Congressman Geoff Davis is pleased to announce that the Crescent Springs-Villa Hills Fire and EMS Department has been awarded $64,600 from the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program.
The AFG program is administered by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency in cooperation with the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA).
The Crescent Springs-Villa Hills Fire and EMS Department has been awarded funds under the AFG’s Operations and Safety Program. This program provides assistance to eligible fire departments and EMS organizations for training, equipment, personal protective equipment, wellness and fitness, and health and safety modifications to stations and facilities. The Crescent Springs-Villa Hills Fire and EMS Department plans to use the AFG funds to purchase a backup generator and an air cascade system.
“This grant will help make our communities safer,” said Congressman Davis. “This important federal funding helps fire departments obtain critical equipment, vehicles and protective gear. I applaud the Crescent Springs-Villa Hills Fire and EMS Department for their proactive efforts to secure funding through the Assistance to Firefighters Grants program. Fire departments and emergency response organizations across the Fourth District could benefit from similar grants, and I urge them to contact my office if we can assist their efforts.”
Crescent Springs-Villa Hills Fire and EMS Department chief Jeff Wendt stated, “Over the past five years, we have received four AFG awards. Thanks to the AFG program, our department has been able to make critical improvements to our services, which allow us to better protect local residents. Congressman Davis has always been one of our biggest supporters; we are grateful for his dedication to our communities and our fire and EMS department.”
