PENCE ANNOUNCES FUNDING FOR ANDERSON BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT CENTER

Washington, Dec 9, 2003 - WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Congressman Mike Pence announced today that the U.S. House of Representatives secured $300,000 in funding for the Business Development Center in Anderson, IN.

“I believe the Business Development Center is part of a vision for a bright and dynamic economic future for Anderson and I am proud to be a part of it,” said Pence. “I would like to congratulate Mayor Mark Lawler for his vision for the new Anderson economy and his assistance in securing these scarce federal resources. Mayor Lawler’s hard work will prove to be of great benefit to the people of Anderson.”

The City of Anderson has formed a partnership with Anderson University and Purdue University to create a technological business incubator. The center’s mission would be to deliver high quality educational and training programs, research, as well as financial advocacy and management services.

The funding was included as part of the FY 2004 Omnibus Appropriations Conference Report. It is expected to pass the Senate and be signed by President Bush.
