Rooney Sworn In as Member of the 111th Congress

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tom Rooney (FL-16) was sworn in today as a member of the 111th Congress.  This is the start of Rooney’s first term representing Florida’s 16th Congressional District.

"I am honored to represent the people of Florida’s 16th Congressional District," said Rooney.  "America is facing several tough challenges in the near future that we must meet head on.  I pledge to work tirelessly for the people of Florida and to represent them with honor and integrity."

After being sworn in, Rooney went to work as an original co-sponsor of the "Stop the Congressional Pay-Raise Act" which would block the automatic $4,700 pay raise for Members of Congress.  Congressman Rooney is committed to returning fiscal discipline to Washington and finding ways to hold the line in government spending.
