Rep. Perlmutter Applauds Energy Training Program Grant

University of Colorado, Denver Awarded $502,596

Washington, DC – Today, U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter (CO-07) is proud to announce the University of Colorado , Denver (Anschutz Medical Campus) is receiving $502,596 as part of the Department of Labor’s Technology Based Learning Grant program. 

“This Department of Labor grant is another example of the world-class facilities and staff at the Anschutz Medical Campus.  This program will help train the next generation of leaders in Colorado ’s diverse energy sector including traditional oil and gas and our burgeoning renewable energy economy.  I would like to congratulate the University of Colorado , Denver on this grant award,” stated Perlmutter.

Program background: The Global Energy Management Program (GEM) is responsible for administration of the GEM Master’s Degree program.  This program features an educational delivery structure of the future by combining classroom and global electronic communication and enhanced collaboration capabilities with a customized management development curriculum specifically for the energy industry. The initial GEM program will serve 32 students; approximately one third will be current employees of energy companies who are enrolled with their employer’s support.  GEM will recruit 22 students and will work with local energy business’ to place these students in entry-level management positions no later than upon graduation.
