Tarrant County Native takes over as Rep. Barton’s Chief of Staff

Washington, D.C.: Congressman Joe Barton (R-Arlington/Ennis) promoted Ron Wright to the position of Chief of Staff. Wright was Rep. Barton’s District Director for the past 9 years and also served on the Arlington City Council from 2000 to 2008, the last four as Mayor Pro-Tem.

A sixth generation resident of Tarrant County, Ron has been involved in political and community service activities in Arlington and Mansfield for more than 20 years.

Mr. Wright will be based in Washington, D.C, but will travel regularly back Texas.

Congressman Barton spoke highly of Wright touting his experience and ties to the 6th District.

“Ron is a dedicated public servant who has been active in politics and civic activities for two decades. He has been a leader on my staff and in Tarrant County. Ron brings with him to the Nation’s Capital close ties to the people of the 6th District and an in-depth knowledge of their needs which will help me continue to improve service to my constituents,” said Rep. Barton.

Mr. Wright is responsible for the oversight of daily operations in the Washington, D.C. and Texas offices, which are located in Arlington, Ennis and Crockett. He works with the staff to ensure that the goals of the office are in line with those of the Sixth District. Ron also works with Congressman Barton to prioritize his goals and ensure implementation of those goals and objectives.

In addition to his service on the city council Ron Wright has served on the Board of Commissioners for the Arlington Housing Authority, the Arlington Sports Authority, the Arlington Night Shelter Board, the Tarrant County Historical Commission, and the Mansfield ISD Education Foundation Board.  Prior to becoming Congressman Barton’s District Director, he was a weekly columnist for the Star-Telegram from 1995-2000.  In 1994, he was named Arlington’s Man of the Year for Community Service.

Ron is the father of three grown children and the proud grandfather of four.  He and his wife Susan have a home in Southwest Arlington.

Mr. Wright replaces Heather Couri, who served as Rep. Barton’s Chief of Staff for more than 10 years. She will now work as the Deputy Chief of Staff on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, where Mr. Barton serves as the Ranking Republican.
