Coffman Announces Committee Assignments

Will be joining Armed Services and Natural Resources

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – U.S. Rep. Mike Coffman (R-Colorado) today announced his House Committee assignments. Coffman will be joining the House Armed Services Committee and Natural Resources Committee.

“I’m honored to be selected to serve as a member of the House Armed Services Committee,” Coffman said. “I will work hard to make sure that our military has what it needs to defend our national security interests.”

Mike Coffman is a U.S. Marine Corps combat veteran with a combined 21 years of military service between the U.S. Army, the Army Reserve, the U.S. Marine Corps, and the Marine Corps Reserve. He saw combat as a light armored infantry officer during the first Gulf War (1990-1991) and recently served in Iraq as a civil affairs officer (2005-2006) where he worked in support of two national elections and the establishment of interim local governments.

“I will bring my firsthand understanding of the security and political challenges on the ground in Iraq to the committee,” Coffman continued. “I will also be able to translate that expertise in discussions over our evolving situation in Afghanistan.”

Coffman will also join the House Natural Resources Committee. Water and energy concerns will be an important issue in the 111th Congress.

“I’m also honored to be a member of the House Natural Resources Committee and I look forward to working to address the water and the energy needs of my district and our nation in an environmentally responsible manner.”
