Deniliquin Agricultural Research and Advisory Station
Deniliquin Agricultural Research and Advisory Station is the centre of operations for the NSW Department of Primary Industries in the Southern Riverina. The office forms a base for several research and extension staff that service irrigation and dryland farming districts as far south as the Victorian border. Research conducted from the Deniliquin ARAS covers areas such as improved water use efficiency in rice through the use of raised beds and improved irrigation layouts, developing threshold levels for water use, and optimising the production of lucerne and winter crops using centre-pivot irrigation.
The Deniliquin ARAS accommodates two Research Officers, two District Agronomists, and Livestock, Fisheries, and Regulatory Officers. Eleven NSW Forests staff and several technical and clerical support staff are also based at the office.
