Industry Return to top

NRCCE serves industry by forming partnerships on a variety of research and education programs, most notably the Industries of the Future-West Virginia program, the West Virginia Water Research Institute, the Appalachian Oil and Natural Gas Research Consortium, and the Petroleum Technology Transfer Center. Typically participation is through the coordination of research in response to federal funding agency opportunities. NRCCE may work as a prime contractor or as a subcontractor on federally funded research. NRCCE may also conduct specific research on behalf of an industry sponsor. Industry representatives may contact program managers in their area of interest or may schedule an appointment with the NRCCE director to learn more.

Students Return to top

NRCCE is independent of any university college or department and is not itself an academic unit. Consequently, NRCCE does not work with large numbers of students. However, the NRCCE does rely on students for help with the research, infrastructure support, and communication activities of the center. A limited number of students are hired as work-study, student worker, or graduate students. Vacancies are typically announced through academic units since students must be accepted to WVU in an academic program to qualify for NRCCE positions. Students who are interested in energy or environmental research are encouraged to ask their faculty members who may be involved in NRCCE programs about any research vacancies. Students who are interested in providing IT support services should keep in touch with the Lane Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering graduate student advisor since many NRCCE programs coordinate student recruitment through that office. Students who are interested in communications activities should keep in touch with the internship advisors of the Journalism school or English department since those NRCCE coordinates its student recruitment through those academic programs. Or students may submit a resume to the attention of Lynnette Loud in the NRCCE Director's Office.
