The City of Shakopee is located in the southwest corner of the Twin Cities metropolitan area, 23 miles from Minneapolis, on the Minnesota River. Drivers are required by state law to stop for pedestrians in crosswalks. The Police Department is increasing its enforcement efforts of pedestrian safety laws, especially in school zones.
